Hello

You’ve reached the website dedicated to the work of neuroscientist, author, blogger, occasional comedian and all-round ‘science guy’ Dr Dean Burnett.

Dean first rose to prominence as the author of the the popular Guardian Science blog ‘Brain Flapping‘ which ran from 2012 to 2018.

He has since written the international bestselling book The Idiot Brain, the cheer-inducing follow up The Happy Brain, his international bestselling debut children’s/teenager’ book Why Your Parents Are Driving You Up The Wall And What To Do About It, his primer about the science of mental health Psycho-Logical, his journey through emotions and grief Emotional Ignorance, and is currently promoting his sixth book, the sequel to his wildly popular children’s book Why Your Parents Are Hung Up On Your Phone And What To Do About It, which explores the evidence-based impact of modern tech and devices on both development and the parent/child dynamic, but in a way that makes it accessible to young people, who are so often overlooked, despite the discourse being *about* them.

As well as a full-time author, Dean Burnett is also an honorary research fellow at Cardiff University, a former Visiting Fellow at Birmingham City University, a regular columnist for BBC’s Science Focus Magazine, and appears regularly as a science pundit and speaker as and when needed.

Dean is currently working on several deadlines and secret projects, so may not be as present as he’d like , but please check his schedule page if you’re interested in where he’ll be appearing next, or find his online content via his many social media platforms.
