Hello

You’ve reached the website dedicated to the work of neuroscientist, author, blogger, occasional comedian and all-round ‘science guy’ Dr Dean Burnett.

Dean first rose to prominence as the author of the the popular Guardian Science blog ‘Brain Flapping‘ which ran from 2012 to 2018.

He has since written the bestselling book The Idiot Brain, the almost-as-good follow up The Happy Brain, and is currently working towards the release of his first book aimed at younger readers, specifically 11-16 year olds Why Your Parents Are Driving You Up The Wall And What To Do About It. He also has more books in the pipeline which will be announced shortly.

As well as a full-time author, Dean Burnett is also an honorary research associate at Cardiff University, and a Visiting Fellow at Birmingham City University.

Dean is currently working to several deadlines so isn’t around much at present, but please check his schedule page if you’re interested in where he’ll be appearing next.

If Dean isn’t scheduled to appear near you but you would like Dean to come and appear or speak at your event or establishment, please contact Chris Wellbelove, his agent at Aitken Alexander, for information. You can also contact Dean directly via the contact page of this website.

Other work by Dean, his guest articles and contributions, can be found here.
